FC-A Field Controller

Control for Complex Productions

At a Glance

The FC-A Field Controller gives your team the flexibility and control to deliver large, complex fireworks shows, stage productions, and theme park installations. Extensive configuration options, automatic SMPTE detection, and PD-FSK timecode support make it easy to synchronize pyrotechnics with the wider production. Building on the established FC3 operating approach, it allows experienced FC3 operators to put their existing skills to work with minimal additional training. For new operators, a video tutorial series is available on this website and on YouTube and provides a clear path through training and onboarding.

Operational Role

The FC-A combines the capacity for complex shows with flexible script management and clear controls for your operators. Five network outputs, each supporting up to 128 firing modules, accommodate extensive layouts, while four 2,500-line script tables keep complex sequences organized into up to 16 subscripts per table, or 64 in total. USB transfer and editing directly on the controller give your team the flexibility to prepare scripts in advance and make adjustments on site. During operation, a color-illuminated keyboard and 16 caliber groups with hazard lockouts help operators maintain a clear overview and control over the show.

Five individually protected network outputs let you divide your firing network into separate sections for greater show continuity. Each output features its own status indication, dedicated driver electronics, and a thermal circuit breaker, helping the remaining sections keep running even if one is interrupted. Integrated booster technology supports longer network runs, while Advanced Mode allows up to 500 ignitions per second when all five outputs are used in parallel. Multiple FC-A controllers can also be linked by Deadman Link Cable, passing Deadman enable and trigger signals from one controller to the next. An FC-E can be connected at the end of the link for the same coordinated control. The FC-A also includes Legacy Mode as its default operating mode, preserving the established FC3 control layout so experienced users can move to the new controller without relearning familiar workflows. Shows can run from the internal clock or follow SMPTE or PD-FSK timecode. The field controller automatically detects incoming SMPTE timecode and synchronizes accordingly. System Compatibility

  • Firing modules: FM-A and legacy Pyrodigital firing modules FM1 to FM8
  • Timecode: Integrated SMPTE and PD-FSK input, with automatic conversion of the supported SMPTE frame rates
  • Network connections: Network Cable, WB-E Falcon Wireless Base, DB-A Dragon Iso-Booster and FiberCON Bridge
  • Software: Design fireworks shows and stage pyrotechnics in software like Visual Show Director or Finale 3D. The free Pyrodigital Downloader transfers scripts to and from FC-A, FC-E and legacy FC3 controllers, so a technician can load a supplied script without a design-software license. Retrieve a script from a controller, save it on the computer, and transfer it to another controller.
  • Accessories: FC-A Case, FC-A Charger, External Power Supply, Deadman Pickle, Deadman Link Cable, PD 5-Way Splitter, Test Light, Spare Keys
The FC-A External Battery Adapter with battery clamps is available on request.

Cases and optional accessories are sold separately.
  • Existing equipment: The FC-A supports use with previous Pyrodigital field controllers and firing modules.
